HCP to BLS Instructor
Health Care Provider Instructor transition to Basic Life Support Instructor
How to become a BLS Instructor:
Current Red Cross First Aid Instructors who wish to teach BLS must first become certified as BLS Instructors through a simplified bridge option. This includes completing the in-class BLS participant course as well as Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management (available from VITAL SIGNS) and an online update. (available from Red cross)
Note: completion of the BLS course, Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management are prerequisites to taking the online update.
If you currently teach CPR HCP and would like to continue offering the new BLS course, we have a simple two-step bridge for you to become a BLS Instructor.
1. Register, pay for and complete the new BLS Course as well as Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management (prerequisite)
Basic Life Support "BLS" (4 hrs)
formally "Health Care Provider" ....85.00
ADD
Airway Management (1 hr)..15.00
Oxygen Therapy (1 hr)......15.00
BLS RECERTIFICATION: 2 hours
2. Then register, pay for and complete the First Aid Instructor to Basic Life Support Instructor Bridge (online payable Red Cross.. $100)
